It's our 10th Birthday this year and we couldn't let it pass without having our very own party! We're also celebrating local businesses & our friends at Picnic Point Bowling Club. 

It's going to be absolutely HUGE so don't miss it! 

There really is something for everyone in our line up- barefoot bowls & vintage cars for the guys, face painting/jumping castle/balloons for the kids, market stalls & cake tasting for the ladies, and everything in between!

One Year of Fun in Padstow

So here we are. One year has passed since we first opened our doors in Padstow. 

Wow how fast times goes by when you're having fun!

We've had lots to do moving and sorting all our stock over from the old location at Panania to the new one in Padstow. Now we have a nice big window to play with and display all our balloon designs and to celebrate seasonal and special occasions through it. We've show cased balloons and products for Mother's Day, Christmas and New Years, our 10th Birthday, State of Origin, Easter and other themes like Frozen, Peppa Pig and Mickey Mouse. We've even had clients come by and tell us that they look forward to seeing what we come up with for our window displays each week.

So it's onwards and upwards for the rest of 2014 and beyond. We're looking forward to new products, new balloon designs and lots more fun.... and a huge birthday party! We're celebrating our 10th Birthday this year and would like to invite all our friends, family, customers and neighbours to our party. 

It's Sunday 26th October at Picnic Point Bowling Club. All welcome, it'll be a great day. We're having a balloon twister, a photo booth, free barefoot bowls, snacks & giveaways and a giant raffle!

Support Your Team... Go the Blues!

We're now one game down in the 2014 State of Origin... and the Blues have defeated QLD 12-8! 

The second game will be played in NSW on Wednesday 18th June 

and the final will be played on Wednesday 9th July. 

....So that means if you weren't getting into the spirit and supporting your team 

as much as you could have for Game 1, there's still 2 to go!

Balloon Releases FAQ

I bet most of you didn't realise that there is actually legislation in place to ensure the protection of  the environment in relation to balloon releases. Here's some of the facts. You may be surprised.


What happens to balloons that are released into the air?
95% of latex balloons that are released into the air rise to 28 000 feet, where the altitude and temperature cause the balloon to expand and shatter into tiny pieces, about the size of a 10-20 cent coin. These pieces fall to the ground over a large area, where they bio-degrade. The remaining 5% drift with wind currents for 8-14 hours before coming down, where they also decompose.

How fast will balloons biodegrade?
Latex balloons are made from 100% natural substance and will biodegrade at about the same rate as an oak leaf, given identical conditions. Balloons should not be confused with plastic. Latex is made from the sap of the rubber tree, a completely natural substance that breaks down in both sunlight and water. A helium balloon that has shattered at altitude will biodegrade much faster than a whole balloon in landfill.
Foil balloons are not biodegradable and can conduct electricity if they come into contact with overhead power lines. For this reason, foil balloons should be attached to a weight and never released.
  

What is the Environmental Impact of Manufacturing Balloons?
The demand for latex from the balloon industry actually ensures the survival of the rubber tree, and provides economic incentive for the planting of more trees, and in preventing deforestation. Harvesting latex can be more profitable to poor third word communities than raising cattle on the deforested land. 
 

Can I Release Helium Balloons in NSW?
In NSW it is an offence to release 20 or more helium filled balloons at one time. It is also an offence for us to sell helium balloons to a customer with the knowledge that they will be used for release, therefore we endeavour to educate our clients on these laws. 

Is there an Exception?
There are some exceptions to this law which include: 
*Unintentional release.
*If the balloons are released indoors and do not make their way into open air.
*The balloons are being used in scientific purposes.


Can I Release Balloons at a Funeral?
Yes, you can. However, you must not release more than 20 helium balloons. If you must have ribbon attached, it can only be crepe streamer or raffia (paper based) so it will degrade and dissolve. No plastic clips or attachments can be used on the balloons. We don't encourage balloon releases of any size, but it is still possible if you follow the above guidelines for doing so legally. Another option is to release less than 20 balloons and give the additional balloons to the children for them to take home, instead of releasing the full amount of balloons ie 20+


What is the best way to dispose of my balloons when I've finished? 
The best thing to do is pin it, and bin in. Once your event is over, we recommend bursting the left over balloons and throwing them away responsibly. This way, there is no chance that any left over balloons will escape into the air or get tangled in power lines, and there will be no balloon related litter to destroy the environment. You can even dispose of your balloons in your compost!

What are is your company doing to help?
The Party's Here works closely with the balloon industry both in Australia and internationally, to promote education and awareness to ensure that our balloons are handled safely and responsibly by consumers, as well as disposed of properly. We are NSW members of the Balloon Artists and Suppliers Association (BASA) who support the use of environmentally friendly biodegradable latex balloons. BASA and its' members are also working with local and state councils to educate them on balloons and the environment.

All Settled In

Well here we are in Padstow in our new shop. 

We survived the first 2 months of moving in and setting up. Phew! 

We haven't had a lot of sleep but we're all up and running again and we had a fantastic grand opening weekend at the end of June to celebrate.

We're so happy to see so many familiar faces of regular clients from Panania finding us at our new shop in Padstow, and also so many new faces coming in to welcome us to the Padstow neighbourhood.

We're Moving to a New Home!

After 9 amazing years of business in Panania, it's time to say farewell. Panania has been our first home since opening in 2004 and we've loved it! Over the years we've met some lovely people, whether it be passers by, function coordinators at surrounding clubs and staff at nearby businesses. 

We want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your continued support 

over the years, we wouldn't be here today without you! 

We've decided to relocate to a bigger and better store in Padstow because we've outgrown our little home in Panania. The new shop is in a more convenient location, with ample parking close by and Padstow train station across the road. We're very excited to set up a brand new space, offering a more extensive product range & more unique balloon decorating ideas. But don't worry, we are still committed to bringing you the same high quality products and services that you've come to expect from us.

There's lots of hard work ahead of us, but we'll keep you updated on our progress & the official opening date which should be mid-June 2013. New Product Ranges for 2013

We've got some exciting new product ranges in store this year, including teddy bears and specialty gift cards. 

The teddy range includes but is not limited to, 13th / 16th / 18th / 21st Birthdays, 

Love You Mum, Love You Forever 

& Graduation. The Graduation bears have been so popular we're already out of stock! But don't worry, we'll have more of these gorgeous creatures back in store very soon. The bears have a gorgeous blue nose and we have matching holographic cards to match these. 

The other exciting range we have now are pop up cards. These have also been flying off the shelves! They can be used as a traditional card, or as a weight for a balloon or balloon bouquet. It's a bit fancier than a standard wrapped balloon weight for a gift or centrepiece.

Display Boxes and Chocolate Boxes

Want an alternative to balloons?

No problem, we have some balloon free options for gifts and centrepiece!

Our display boxes are custom made, so you can choose the style, colours and extras. 

These include a name & cellophane arranged in a box. 

You can add extra decorations like sprays, picks, small foil balloons, helium balloons, 

chocolates, sparkle lights and small latex balloons. These are great as a table display, especially on the present table or next to the cake. They also make lovely table centrepieces, and your guests can eat the chocolates off it at the end of the party!

Our chocolate boxes are similar but made a little differently. At the moment we've got 2 sizes and these can both have names and balloons added to them. This style are perfect for table centrepieces 

(particularly when you don't have a name, because this means it can be viewed from all sides). 

We've also found that our chocolate boxes make gorgeous gifts for anything, from 

a simple thank you present to an anniversary surprise or birthday treat.
